App 1 of 7

Free

XOTT

XOTT is the best free starting point for a Smart TV IPTV trial in Canada. It installs straight from the Samsung / LG app store, shows you a MAC address on first launch, and once we upload your playlist against that MAC the channels appear the next time you open the app, with no typing of URLs into a TV remote.

MAC address (auto-detected)

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen · LG WebOS · some Android TVs

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Install XOTT from your TV store

On Samsung open the Smart Hub, on LG open the Content Store. Search "XOTT" and install the free app.

  2. 2

Open XOTT and note your MAC

Launch the app. The welcome screen shows a MAC address in the format 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. Take a photo of it, as that's your device identifier.

  3. 3

Send us your MAC on WhatsApp

Message us the MAC together with your order name. We upload your personal M3U playlist to the XOTT server within a few minutes.

  4. 4

Reload the app and start streaming

Close XOTT completely, re-open it. Your Canadian channels, sports, films and series load automatically with a full EPG.

IBO Player Pro logo

App 2 of 7

Paid app

IBO Player Pro

≈ €8 lifetime · 7-day free trial

IBO Player Pro is the most polished paid Smart TV IPTV player. It comes with a 7-day free trial baked in (long enough to test our full IPTV free trial line-up) and if you like it, one payment of about $12 CAD unlocks the app for life on that specific TV. The interface is close to Netflix, with per-category posters, a fast EPG and catch-up support.

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen · LG WebOS · Android TV · Fire TV · Apple TV · Windows

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Install IBO Player Pro

From the Samsung or LG app store search "IBO Player Pro" and install it. On some older TVs it appears as "IBO Player".

  2. 2

Read your Device Key and MAC

Open the app. The first screen shows a Device Key AND a MAC address. You'll need both. Take a photo.

  3. 3

    Send us both codes

WhatsApp us the Device Key and MAC. We upload your playlist against them and confirm when it's live, usually within 10 minutes.

  4. 4

Enjoy the free trial, then activate

You get 7 days free. To keep it after that, visit iboproapp.com, enter the same Device Key + MAC, and pay the one-off lifetime fee. Your playlist stays exactly as it is.

Tip

  • Payment is handled by IBO directly on their site, separate from your IPTV subscription with us.
Hot Player / Hot IPTV logo

App 3 of 7

Paid app

Hot Player / Hot IPTV

€5.99/yr · €14.99 lifetime · 30-day free trial

Hot Player has the longest free trial on this list, a full 30 days, which makes it a strong pairing with a monthly IPTV trial. It uses an M3U URL rather than a MAC, so you upload your playlist link on the Hot Player website against your TV's MAC and the app pulls it down automatically.

Log in via

M3U playlist URL (uploaded at hotplayer.app/upload)

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen · LG WebOS · Android TV · Fire TV · Apple TV · iOS · Windows

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Search "Hot Player" or "Hot IPTV" in the Samsung / LG store. Install it and open it once to reveal your MAC.

  2. 2

    Send us your MAC

WhatsApp us the MAC and we will generate a personal M3U playlist URL for your account.

  3. 3

    Upload the playlist on hotplayer.app/upload

Open hotplayer.app/upload in a browser, enter your MAC and paste the M3U URL we sent you. Save.

  4. 4

    Reload the app

Restart Hot Player on the TV. Your channels appear. You have 30 days free. After that activate on hotplayer.app/activation for €5.99/yr or €14.99 lifetime.

Tip

  • Don't confuse the two Hot Player pages: /upload is where you paste your playlist (free during the trial), /activation is where you pay when the trial ends.
Bob Player logo

App 4 of 7

Paid app

Bob Player

≈ €8/yr · €13 lifetime

Bob Player is a cleaner, no-frills alternative to IBO. Cheaper on a lifetime plan (~€13 one-off), MAC-based, and includes a short free trial to test your Smart TV IPTV feed before you activate. Preferred by users who want the simplest possible interface.

Smart IPTV (SIPTV) logo

App 5 of 7

Paid app

Smart IPTV (SIPTV)

€5.49 lifetime · 7-day free trial

Smart IPTV (usually shortened to SIPTV) is the veteran Smart TV IPTV player. It's the app most Canadian IPTV providers reference in their setup docs, including ours. Cheapest lifetime price in this list and by far the most reliable long-term choice on older Samsung / LG TVs.

Set IPTV logo

App 6 of 7

Paid app

Set IPTV

$6.99/yr · 7-day free trial

Set IPTV works exactly like Smart IPTV (MAC-based upload of an M3U link through a web portal) but has better support for the newest Samsung Tizen and LG WebOS 6/7 TVs where SIPTV has become unreliable.

Smarters Player Lite logo

App 7 of 7

Free

Smarters Player Lite

Smarters Player Lite is the free official Samsung Tizen version of the popular IPTV Smarters app. Instead of a MAC upload it logs in directly with Xtream Codes credentials (the same username / password / server URL we send to Fire Stick and Apple TV users), which makes it the fastest of all Smart TV apps to activate.

Log in via

Xtream Codes (username + password + server URL)

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen 2018+ · Apple TV · Android TV (via IPTV Smarters Pro)

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Install Smarters Player Lite

From the Samsung app store search "Smarters Player Lite" (Tizen 2018 or newer required). Install it.

  2. 2

Choose Login with Xtream Codes API

Open the app, tap Add User, then pick "Login with Xtream Codes API", the fastest, most reliable login method.

  3. 3

Enter the details we sent you

Type any nickname (e.g. "Living Room"), then enter the username, password and server URL from your welcome message. Save.

  4. 4

    Start streaming

The app connects and loads your full channel list, EPG, VOD and series, with no MAC upload and no waiting.

Tip

  • If Smarters Player Lite is missing from your regional Samsung store, use XOTT (free) or IBO Player Pro (paid) instead. The trial credentials we send you work on both.

Do I need to buy from an IPTV supplier near me?

No. Searching for IPTV near me is left over from cable, where the service area and the technician were real constraints. A Smart TV activates over your existing internet connection, and in most cases through a MAC address we register remotely, so a household in Halifax sets up exactly the same way as one in Vancouver, with the same channels at the same price and no install appointment.

Do I need extra hardware, or are Smart TV IPTV solutions enough on their own?

For most 2016-or-newer Samsung, LG, Sony and Android TVs, the built-in app is enough. That is the appeal of Smart TV IPTV solutions, since there is nothing extra to buy, plug in or find an outlet for. Where it breaks down is older sets, whose app stores no longer accept new installs, and TVs whose processors struggle with a full channel guide. If your set is pre-2016 or the guide feels sluggish, a $70 CAD streaming stick fixes it permanently and gives you a wider choice of the best IPTV app options.

Will my Smart TV actually play 4K IPTV?

If the panel is 4K and your connection holds around 25 Mbps at peak, yes. Two honest caveats. A stream is only IPTV 4K if the source feed is 4K. No TV or app upscales its way to real detail, and genuine 4K is far more common in on-demand libraries than in live channels. And older Smart TV apps sometimes decode 4K in software rather than hardware, which stutters on fast motion. If a 4K channel stalls but the same channel in FHD is perfect, that is the TV, not the service.

Which Smart TV IPTV app is the best in 2026?

For a completely free Smart TV IPTV app in Canada, XOTT is the best starting point: it uses a MAC upload, has a clean interface and works on both Samsung Tizen and LG WebOS. If you don't mind paying once, IBO Player Pro (approximately €8 lifetime) is the smoothest Netflix-style paid app; Hot Player has the longest free trial at 30 days. All three are compatible with our iptv free trial.

Do I need a paid app to use my IPTV subscription on Smart TV?

No. XOTT and Smarters Player Lite are completely free. IBO Player Pro, Hot Player / Hot IPTV and Bob Player each come with a free trial (7 to 30 days). Install one, paste your playlist and test it properly. When the trial ends you activate (pay for) the app on its own official site: iboproapp.com, hotplayer.app/activation or bobplayer.com/login. Payment for those apps is completely separate from your IPTV subscription with us.

Will these apps work on my Samsung / LG / Sony?

Yes for the vast majority of TVs. Samsung Tizen 2018+ supports all the apps listed above. LG WebOS 4+ supports XOTT, IBO, Hot Player, Bob Player, Smart IPTV and Set IPTV. Sony Android TVs use the Google Play versions of the same apps. Very old Smart TVs (pre-2016) may need a Fire TV Stick 4K Max as a workaround. See our Fire Stick installation guide.

What is a MAC address and where do I find it?

A MAC address is a unique 12-character code (e.g. 00:1A:79:AB:CD:EF) that identifies your TV to the IPTV app's server. Every Smart TV IPTV app shows it on the welcome screen the first time you open it. Take a photo of it and WhatsApp it to us. That's how we attach your personal IPTV playlist to your TV without you having to type long URLs on the remote.

Do these Smart TV apps support 4K IPTV?

Yes. XOTT, IBO Player Pro, Hot Player, Bob Player and Smarters Player Lite all support 4K HEVC/H.265 playback on any Smart TV with a 4K panel and a decent internet connection (25 Mbps+ recommended). For the smoothest 4K experience use Ethernet rather than Wi-Fi.

How long does the whole Smart TV setup take?

Under 10 minutes end-to-end. You install one app from the TV store (1 to 2 min), open it and read the MAC (30 seconds), WhatsApp us the MAC (30 seconds), we upload your playlist (usually 2 to 5 min), you reload the app and you're watching Canadian channels. That's the exact process every Best IPTV Box IPTV free trial customer goes through on their first day.

What if my TV can't find any of these IPTV apps?

Some Samsung / LG regions have removed Smart IPTV and Set IPTV from their app stores. If that's you, try XOTT and IBO Player Pro first, as they're available in every Canadian region. If none of them install, the cheapest fix is a $70 CAD Fire TV Stick 4K Max plugged into your TV's HDMI port. Full walkthrough in our Fire Stick installation guide.
